General note
This book presents an unusual collaborative project between the Kunsthaus Zug and the Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata. Since 1996, the artist has created various wooden installations that function as stages of his Work In Progress in Zug. Together they form a path linking the Kunsthaus with the old town and the lakeside area. The project begins with a wooden pathway at Burgbachplatz which leads out from the musem into the city and ends in a park like idyll. In between are an amphitheater and ten little bathing huts on the lakeshore beach. A photo essay by Guido Baselgia documents this four-year project, in addition to several essays describing this work that traverses the borders of nature and culture. Kawamata has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (1982) and Documenta VIII and IX.
